On a side road not far from the Gordon Dam we found the disused and abandoned ‘pod’ shown in the photo below.  We surmised it was important during the dam construction. Perhaps pods such as these were a type of cable car used as part of a transport system to raise and lower men on the Gordon Dam wall.  Can anyone provide further information?

This example was in bad repair; the ceiling was disintegrating as the rain ran through it.
